PROJECTS

This is a gestural drawing of a plant. Gestural drawings are drawings done in a short amount of time as long as the shape of the object is still maintained.

In this piece, I am portraying emotion through non-symbolic line work. It is called an analog drawing. I am portraying a mix of joy, peacefulness, human energy, and competition.

In my sketchbook, I created a value scale and circle drawing with a few different graphite pencils.

Through this box drawing, I focused on learning how to do perspective drawing and being able to develop a piece with value through cross-hatching techniques..

When learning different line techniques, I recreated this piece by Van Gogh to experiment different ways to develop a piece through line work.

Using Tombow pens and water, I developed two landscape pieces. I experimented between both grey and black which came together nicely with both a warm and light colored pen.

With red, blue, and yellow watercolor, I recreated a piece by Carolyn Lord called Sunny Day Sunflowers in Mendocino to experiment with her style and watercolor technique.

In another watercolor piece, I painted a landscape portrait of a picture I took from Dillon Beach in California. Through multiple layers, I used different watercolor techniques to develop dimension in this piece. For example, I used wax to maintain the white for the foam that was in the water.
