PROJECTS

I created two compositions for this line design project. I created multiple sketches and picked two I thought were best composed and balanced to show. The one on the left focuses more on shape and precise line work, while the one on the right has more curved lines which resemble a spacey look to it.

In this project, I created an abstraction piece in six steps. From left to right, here is the list of the steps.

  1. Naturalism

  2. Texture

  3. Geometric

  4. Organic

  5. Biomorphic

  6. Non-objectice Abstraction

I was able to create this piece with newspaper by starting with the background, layering, and adding in white detail in the end. I made sure to keep letters in as many pieces as possible and made sure there was not any visible words or distracting letters so it does not take away from the piece.

When picking what I wanted to use to create a painted color composition, I had to think about which previous work do I want to recreate into color and I chose my sixth step abstraction from the abstraction in six steps project. For this project, I created 30 hues with tempera paint and then used about half of them in this project. Through doing this, I focused on my brush control and the composition of colors.
